I tried not to get pulled into the Diddy case, but I found out Cassie was part Filipino. So it drew me in. Flashback to Summer 1985 This was summer before my freshman year at UC Davis. It should be September because I was supposed to be moving into the dorms. But Tita Myrna lost an expensive bracelet in our house and I found it under the sofa mattress in the den. Tita Myrna asked me to fly down, with both Liza and Frances having offered to pay for my flight. How can I refuse that?! LOL Tita Myrna was my mom's coworker in Illinois Masonic Hospital, and our neighbor in the 20-story Barr Tower. She lived on the 2nd floor, while we lived initially on the 8th floor and moved to a 2-bedroom apartment on the 12th floor. Frances had been my classmate in 6th grade in St. Sebastian in Chicago. But Liza and I both remember that Tita Myrna had taken us to something with our siblings, maybe a movie when we were younger. I have always admired Sophia Loren, so we took a photo with her. Khor Fakkan Beach & Gulf of Oman Flashback: Khor Fakkan Beach - Sharjah - United Arab Emirates. Khris and I drove from Dubai to Khor Fakkan in the emirate of Sharjah, from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman. We got to Khor Fakkan right before 8 PM, but as you can see, it was HOT & HUMID. Eala advances to semifinals. Congratulations Alex Eala! Just WOW. As a Filipino born in the Philippines, I'm just beaming with so much Pinoy pride right now. As an ex-high school tennis player, I so appreciate today's great upset/win. Iga Swiatek is a 5-time grand slam champion. But to have beat your last two opponents who were also grand slam champions, that makes three grand slam champions that you beat to get to the semifinals. I was going to watch the recorded match at my sister's house tonight. Vince said he'd record it. But I ended up subscribing to the Tennis Channel for one month. I had to watch Alex Eala LIVE to take on the WTA #2 (Swiatek was previously the #1 player in the world). Alex Eala is currently ranked #140 in the WTA (Women's Tennis Association). 34-year-old Aimee Galicia-Torres sued the Archdiocese of #LosAngeles in what is believed to be the first civil suit against the country's largest Catholic diocese. California passed a law last month that extends the statute of limitations for child abuse survivors. A Filipina American filmmaker from Hollywood is suing the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, alleging that she was abused by a Filipino Catholic priest in Gardena, California as a child. Aimee Galicia Torres, 34, a medical documentary filmmaker and cinematographer, says Fr. Honesto Bayranta Bismonte, whom she knew as “Lolo Nes” or “Grandpa Nes” began sexually abusing her in 1993, when she was 8.
